Week 18 - finishing touches and moving in!
The house really came together this week and Jenn and I have been hard at work building closets and moving our things in. We move in for good on Saturday May 9 and so will be moving in throughout the rest of this week.

Week 17 - Floors, paint and lighting
The painters finished inside the house this week and the floors were finished. This week also saw many of the lights and switches installed and the ceiling speakers were put in. Finally we got approval to turn on the solar power so that is chugging away busily bringing in a steady 1500 watts into the house and making the electrical meter rotate backwards.
Finished floors - here looking into the house from the sunroom with the new flooring

Week 16 - painting and planting
The house is filling with color! Painting week.
Sunroom with a warm tope
Ethan's room is a bold green!
Master bedroom is a bit pink...so we are changing the color
The kitchen is taking shape
We planted the hedge this weekend using Podocarpus Gracilior (Tree Fern) to provide some privacy around the bedrooms. It is a nice alternative to a fence and provides an attractive lush backdrop to our little garden on the side of the house. At the moment, it is not providing much of a screen! But it fills in fast. We are adding a small 3 feet high fence blended in with it to contain kids and pups.

Week 15 - Bathroom tiling, kitchen cabinets, fireplace tiling, final trim, loft hatch and tree removal
The master bathroom tiling nearly finished this week (just need grouting) with a wonderful job done on the floor tiles:
Also the guest bathroom shower tiles were installed:
And the fireplace wall was tiled covering up the brick:
The wall mounted kitchen cabinets were installed this week:
And here is a shot looking from the living room, through the kitchen into the sun room - beautiful large open space:
The loft hatch was installed:
Funny story....we arranged to have the old pine tree removed from the side of the house and the team removed every living thing on the side of the house including all the beds of plants I had carefully transplanted to create some layering once the hedge had been planted. This is what it looks like now....:

Week 14 - Cabinets, floors, doors, trim, and bathroom tiles
This week the bottom row of kitchen cabinets finished off being installed, the hardwood floors were laid through the house (the current ones will be sanded down to all look like the natural new color), the interior doors were installed throughout, trim was added to the windows and the bathroom tiling was started!
Jennifer and Ethan jump for joy because they love the new hardwood floors. All the flooring will eventually be that lighter color.
The kitchen cabinets taken from behind the peninsula in the sun room
The windows have trim! This is the one high up in the sun room.
