Week 9 - Electrical, low voltage, roofing and duct work

There is not much electrical work left now, there are wires everywhere! We wired the house up for Internet, phone and cable TV this week as well as set up the in-ceiling home theater. The heating and cooling duct work went in this week as well as the new furnace. Finally the roofing work was done in a brief dry patch between the rain showers.

The sunroom and space between it and the kitchen now has a subfloor!

The master bathroom is a good example of plumbing and wires everywhere! 

In a closet we have a central junction box controlling all the cable, phone and ethernet cables throughout the house so we can have internet ports in every room

The yellow wires at the back (closer) are for the home theatre rear speakers, the 3 at the front are for the front speakers - all mounted into the ceiling. You can also see four of the six flourescent lights in the ceiling of the living room.

New furnace in the loft

The duct work was completed this week, all the heating and cooling air will come through the ceiling in the rooms so we don't have to lose closet space running the ducts from the furnace in the loft to under the floor

Week 8 - Windows and electrical

This week the windows went in and there was more electrical work. All the flourescent lights are installed and wired up.

The high up window in the sunroom will give us some nice light without having to look into the next door house

The new windows in the kitchen are in. The one on the right will be over the kitchen sink.

The patio doors in the master bedroom are in. There will be a fence up outside so we don't have to look out onto the road.

The new patio doors and steps from the street. We plan to add a deck seating area outside and the old pine tree on the right is going to come down to give us some more closed in yard space.

All the light cans are installed in the kitchen, one switch will operate the outside lights over the counters and another switch will operate the center strip of lights.

Week 7 - Framing and electrical

This week saw the last of the framing and the start of the electrical work.

The skylight has been cut into the sunroom roof. You can also see the glass patio doors have been removed and boarded up.

Here in the office you can see the studs have been exposed for the electrical wiring. This can be seen all through the house. 

The closet has been framed into the master bedroom and you can also see the finished plumbing in the master bedroom with the valves for the shower.

Jennifer and Ethan are checking out the extension area. The struts for the floor and ceiling are in place and you can see the windows that will be in the corner have been framed in.

The guest bath has been plumbed in

Week 6 - Extension

The extension went on this week. The area between the kitchen is sunroom is down and it gives a great idea of what the big open space will be like.
